Green Isle Extra Crispy French Fries Breakfast Spice Bag

Introducing a delicious fusion of two Irish favourites—the Breakfast Spice Bag! This recipe combines the beloved flavours of a spice bag with the hearty components of a traditional Irish fry-up. Crispy Green Isle French Fries and hash browns are air-fried to golden perfection and tossed in a bold five-spice mix. Meanwhile, savoury black and white pudding, sausages, and bacon are cooked alongside sautéed peppers and onions, creating the ultimate breakfast feast. Perfect for brunch or a comforting start to your day, this dish delivers the best of both worlds with an irresistible spicy twist!

Ingredients

Green Isle Extra Crispy French Fries

½ of each log black and white pudding

3 x sausages

2 x slices bacon

2 x Green Isle Hash Browns

½ of each red and green pepper

1 x small onion

1 x spring onion to garnish

Spray oil

Spice Mix

1 tbsp. Five Spice

1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder

1 tsp. chili Powder

Method:  

  1. Air fry the Green Isle Extra Crispy French Fries and Hash Browns. Guidelines may vary depending on made and size, see manufacturers guidelines for best results. Place the Green Isle Extra Crispy French Fries and hash browns in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with oil to help them crisp up. Cook for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure they cook evenly.
  2. Once the fries and hash browns are golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and toss them in the spice mix (1 tbsp Five Spice, ½ tsp garlic powder, and 1 tsp chili powder).
  3. In a large frying pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the diced red and green peppers and onion, and sauté for 5-6 minutes until they soften and become slightly caramelized. Once cooked, set the veggies aside.
  4. In a separate pan, fry the black and white pudding, sausages, and bacon over medium heat. Cook until golden and fully cooked through—around 8-10 minutes.Once the meats are cooked, chop them into bite-sized pieces.
  5. In a large serving bowl or individual bowls, combine the spiced fries and hash browns with the cooked veggies and chopped meats. Toss everything together to mix the flavours.
  6. Garnish with sliced spring onions for a fresh, crunchy finish, and serve immediately.Enjoy this bold and hearty twist on two Irish classics—perfect for sharing or indulging in a cosy brunch at home!
