Broccoli and Sausage Pasta

Enjoy this easy cheesy broccoli pie, suitable for vegetarians and ready in less than an hour. Perfect for feeding a larger group or family with little prep involved, this one is always a win with all the family.


2 sheets of ready rolled puff pastry (640g)

1 x pack Green Isle Broccoli 450g, defrosted

30g butter

30g plain flour

400ml milk

Salt and pepper

1 tablespoon grain mustard

100g grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese mix

1 egg, beaten


  1. Bring a large pan of water to the boil and cook the pasta according to the packet instructions. Add the broccoli for the last 4 – 5 minutes then drain, saving a small amount of the water.
  2. Heat the oil and butter in a large frying pan and add the onion, frying for 5 minutes until soft and slightly golden. Add the garlic, fennel seeds and chillies and when they start to colour a bit, add the sausage, cooking until golden – about 5 – 6 minutes.
  3. Tip in the pasta and broccoli with the reserved water and toss to coat everything then serve in bowls with lots of grated parmesan and some torn basil leaves.
